Monchi signed the Colombian striker from Club Brugge in 2013 for a fee of 5.25million.The forward immediately hit the ground running in LaLiga, scoring 21 goals in his first season for Los Hispalenses.After another prolific season in LaLiga where he scored 28 goals – Bacca was then sold to Milan for a fee of 22.5million.8

Geoffrey Kondogbia

In 2012, Monchi pinpointed the talent of the midfield powerhouse from Ligue 2 side Lens for 3million.After some dominant performances in the middle of the park Monaco got out their chequebook to sign the Central African Republic international for 15million – five times what Sevilla paid for him.8

Julio Baptista

The Brazilian was signed from Sao Paolo in 2003 as defensive midfielder but was transformed into a prolific striker in his time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.He scored 47 goals in his first two seasons before earning a move to the capital and signing for Real Madrid for 15million.

Dani Alves

Monchi himself has stated this was his best ever signing and not even he could have imagined his signing would become one of the finest defenders in the modern game.Alves was signed for just 413k from Bahia in 2003 and spent five years with Sevilla before transferring to Barcelona for 27million in 2008.He made his spot on the right-flank his own in Catalonia and has since gone on to play for Juventus and now Paris Saint-Germain.8

Ivan Rakitic

Monchi spotted the Croat’s contract was winding down at Schalke and he was then signed at Sevilla for the cut-price fee of 1.8million.He captained the side to Europa League glory in 2014 before leaving for Barcelona that summer.There is now speculation that he could leave Camp Nou, with Chelsea interested and a 44million asking fee set by Barca chiefs.8

Seydou Keita

Monchi came in for the Malian while he was at Lens in 2007 and he became a midfield powerhouse in the Sevilla line-up in 2007.He was then sold the following year for 10.5million and was a pivotal figure for Pep Guardiola’s record-breaking Barca side.

Federico Fazio

The South American was signed from second division Argentine side Ferro Carril in 2007 for just 600k.After being integrated through the ranks he became a solid asset at the back and was then sold to Tottenham Hotspur in 2014 for 7.5million.After failing to impress at Spurs, Fazio returned to Sevilla in January on loan in 2016 but is now back at Roma and reunited with Monchi.8

Christian Poulsen

The Dane was signed for free from Schalke in 2007 after the World Cup and played brilliantly in his two years at Sevilla.The defensive midfielder was scooped up by Juventus in 2008 and signed for 7.3million and later went on to have a unsuccessful stint at Liverpool.8

Adriano

Another talented Brazilian player that Monchi signed on the cheap was Adriano.The full-back, although not as explosive as Alves on the other flank, solidified his spot on the left side of Sevilla’s defence for six years after his 1.8million move.He was another player to make his way to Barcelona – moving to Catalonia in 2010 for 7.13million.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

The second biggest profit-maker on this list goes to the Pole.He had been playing his football for Ligue 2 side Reims in France and was spotted by Monchi and signed for 5million in 2014.In 2014, he was then sold to PSG for almost five times the amount – sealing a 24million move to the French capital.8
