Patrice Evra: Former Manchester United defender denies being homophobic after Paris Saint-Germain allegations
Patrice Evra has denied allegations of homophobia after Paris Saint-Germain accused him of aiming anti-gay insults at the club.The former France captain mocked the French champions after they were dumped out of the Champions League in dramatic fashion by Manchester United.In a video posted on social media on Monday, the former United star said: “This is Manchester. Stop going off on one [about PSG] and validating teams who will never win anything.“Even my cousin who is in the front [of the car] is p***** off. Paris, you are some f****ts, some f****ts, I’m telling you. We [United] put our D team [against PSG] and we did you.“Some kids played, they used to clean my boots. They don’t even have sperm [yet]. Paris, you are some p*****s.” PSG strongly condemned Evra’s words and issued a statement accusing the 37-year-old of homophobia.Paris Saint-Germain condemns Patrice Evras homophobic insults aimed at the club, its representatives and its former players in a video released yesterday on social media,” the Ligue 1 club said.“These remarks profoundly shocked the club, which is particularly committed to the values of respect and inclusiveness.And Evra has now issued an apology, claiming the French media have twisted his words.He said: “I am here to clarify a massive misunderstanding.“I made a video as a joke, as a friend, and because I used the word [f****t], they [French media] translated as I am against the gay people.
