Zaha had given his side the lead earlier on in the game shortly before half-time but was fouled throughout the game on several occasions which left him frustrated. The 26-year-old has previously claimed he feels targeted by opposition sides and the referees fail to protect him from malicious tackles. After the game his boss Roy Hodgson was furious at the treatment he was getting in the game. The FA said in a statement: “Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has been charged following the game against Southampton yesterday (January 30, 2019).“It is alleged his behaviour following a second-half dismissal amounts to improper conduct. The player has until 6pm on February 5, 2019 to respond to the charge.”
