Everton need to stop changing managers and should stick with Marco Silva, says former striker Tony Cottee
Former Everton striker Tony Cottee has told the club to stick with manager Marco Silva, despite the teams dreadful form this season.Silva is already under significant pressure in the Goodison Park hotseat just eight months after his appointment. It’s been a tough couple of months for Silva2

Everton chiefs were hoping the Portuguese coach would be the man to help get the club back fighting for European football, but its been a bumpy first campaign with the Toffees currently 11th in the Premier League, having won just two league games since the start of December. The pressure was ramped up even more this weekend after their shock FA Cup fourth round exit at the hands of Millwall, and Everton could face even more embarrassment this week when they face bottom-placed Huddersfield in the league.Silva is the Merseyside clubs third manager in the six years since they sacked Roberto Martinez. And Cottee believes the key to progress at Everton is to stick with Silva, and has urged the club and supporters to have patience during this transitional season.Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former striker said: Everton are going through a transitional period – its going to take a while for him to get his idea across. They pushed the boat out to get Silva, so I dont think theyre going to press any panic buttons in terms of getting rid of the manager.Everton cant keep changing their managers. Theyve had Martinez, theyve had Koeman, theyve had Allardyce and now theyve got Silva. You cant keep changing managers, but at the same time youve got to see progress.Everton have won just twice in the Premier League since the start of December2

The fans are the key to this because theyre the ones who watch the games week in week out.If they can see some sort of progress being made, than I think theyll live with that, but it doesnt help when you get knocked out of the FA Cup, because if you can go on a good cup run it can disguise whats going on in the Premier League.I think Silva will come through this, but they do need to start getting results.
