Away tickets for the match in Portugal were initially set at 73 (85), but after issues over high costs when the two met in the round of 16 a year ago, the club have worked with their opponents and UEFA to agree a new price of 52 (60).This is 15 less than the tickets were for last season’s meeting at the Estadio do Dragao.“Liverpool would like to thank FC Porto for working with the club on a pricing structure,” a club statement read. “Fellow Champions League clubs are also continuing to work with UEFA to negotiate the fairest ticket prices for their fans throughout the competition.“The dialogue regarding a price cap on tickets for away fans will also continue.“Until such a cap is agreed, Liverpool will continue to work with the opposition and UEFA to discuss the most reasonable ways of reducing costs for travelling supporters.”This is not the first time Champions League ticket prices have been in the news this week.

It was confirmed a couple of days ago that Barcelona are charging Manchester United supporters 102 per ticket for their clash at Camp Nou next month.United responded by charging Barcelona supporters the same amount for a seat at Old Trafford for the reverse fixture, with the club using funds raised from this increased price to subsidise United’s travelling supporters.A United statement read: “In this instance we believe that our travelling supporters are again being subjected to increased/excessive ticket prices from the host club.Manchester United fans must pay well over the odds to get a seat at Camp Nou2

“We have again taken the difficult decision to charge FC Barcelona fans for the home leg at Old Trafford the same amount that FC Barcelona are charging for the away fixture (102).“We will use the additional revenue gained from this to subsidise our travelling support by paying the 27 price difference for each of our travelling supporters.”
